It was concluded that: the level of knowledge & practice of the study group patients after application of nursing guidelines was higher than control group patients. Most of the study group patients had minimal post-operative discomfort after application of nursing guidelines. It was recommended that Nurse Administrators can provide an in-service training on postoperative discomfort assessment and management to their staff. Also Nurses would be able to differentiate patients at the high risk of developing severe discomfort after abdominal surgery.
