Effect of Educational Program on Maternity Nurses' knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Preventive Measures Towards COVID-19

Abstract
Background: Nursing staff are at the frontline defense against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Inadequate knowledge and incorrect attitudes among maternity nurses can directly influence practices and lead to delayed diagnosis, poor infection control practice, and spread of disease. Aim: Assess maternity nurses’ KAP about covod19 & evaluate the effect of educational program on improving maternity nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice of preventive measures towards COVID19. Methods: Quasi experimental research design was used in this study. It was conducted at different departments of Women Health Hospital, Assiut University. Sample A convenient sample of a total 159 maternity nurses included in the study. Structured interview questionnaire was used and included two parts. An educational program was implemented to maternity nurses regarding COVID19. Results: there is highly statistical significance difference between pre&post program regarding total knowledge, attitude and practice of preventive measures towards COVID19 among studied maternity nurses p-value 0.001. Conclusion: The implementation of educational program significantly improved studied nurses' knowledge, attitude and practice of preventive measures toward COVID 19 evidenced by the pretest and posttest knowledge scores. Recommendations: Provide a continuous education and training programs to maternity nurses regarding COVID19 to achieve optimistic attitude and maintain safe practice regarding compliance with the preventive measures of COVID19.
