Nurses’ Usage of Information Technology and its Relationship to the Quality of Services at Assuit University Hospitals

Abstract

Background: Information technology (IT) plays a vital role in enhancing healthcare quality by improving safety, efficiency, and service delivery. Hospitals increasingly integrate IT systems to support patient-centered care and achieve higher service standards. Aim: Investigate the effect of nurses’ usage of information technology at Alrajhi and Heart hospitals on the Quality of Services.  Assiut University. Design: A descriptive analytical design was applied. Subject and method: The study included 175 nurses from Alrajhi and Heart Hospitals. Tools: Two tools were utilized namely; Quality of health services questionnaire, consisted of 2 parts, part1: a personal data form, part 2: quality of health services questionnaire, Tool (II) Information Technology (IT) questionnaire. Results: Most participants were females and aged ranged from 18–27 years. High satisfaction was reported with IT use, with significant positive correlations between IT and health services, hotel services, and administrative services. Conclusion: IT positively influenced service quality across all domains, improving efficiency, timeliness, and coordination of care. Recommendations: Continuous training, investment in user-friendly systems, and regular evaluation are essential to maximize IT’s role in advancing hospital services.
